Hygeia Gynecology was conceived from the desire and intention to provide state-of-the-art gynecologic care to discriminating women of all ages. The philosophy of our practice is that women are entitled to receive personalized and elegant medical care in a beautiful surrounding that feels more spa-like than commercial or industrial.
With the appointments as comfortable as those of a premier hotel, the customized feminine aesthetic of the office begins with the lack of a waiting room- only a Zen-like reception area. There is no waiting room at Hygeia because patients do not wait. Upon your arrival, you will be escorted directly to your examination room, where luxe materials and high-tech equipment surround you. From the beginning of your visit to the end, you will be treated like the VIP (very important patient) that you are.
All aspects of gynecologic care and general health are addressed in the first completely eco-friendly physician practice in Bergen County. Hygeia Gynecology provides dedicated medical care and service that harkens back to a by-gone era. By interacting with a select and intimate team of health care professionals, you will be spared frustration and inconvenience. This is old-school medicine with a new-age approach.
The concept of creating the first totally eco-friendly medical practice in the area grew from the opportunity of constructing the facility from scratch, an endeavor undertaken by Hollister Construction Services under the direction of Henning Meisner of Alveary Architecture of NYC. Being GreenOffice Certified, 99% of everything with which you come into contact is green and non-toxic. The paint on the walls is the newest, low- VOC variety and the carpet is 100% wool and also low-VOC. The washable flooring in exam rooms is the highly eco-friendly Marmoleum: an all-natural version of linoleum which is bactericidal and installed with solvent-free adhesive. Bathroom materials are all recycled glass tiles with cork flooring and medical supplies are stored in recycled Formica cabinetry. Most furniture is constructed from sustainable or creatively re-constructed substances and the well-known Philippe Starck Hudson chairs are made of entirely recycled brushed and polished aluminum. Window treatments and fabrics are made from organic cotton, jute and linen. Office lighting consists of energy-efficient bulbs. All cleaning is performed with non-toxic and effective anti-bacterial "green" products, and the office is 99% paperless, using completely electronic medical records systems, e fax for sending and receiving medical reports and computers for patients’ educational and leisure "reading" instead of waiting room magazines.
The name Hygeia originates from Greek mythology. Hygeia was the daughter of Asclepius and is the Goddess of health, healing and cleanliness. She is associated with the prevention of sickness and the continuation of good health. She is the perfect namesake for a medical facility dedicated to caring for women of all ages in an eco-friendly environment.
