Prevention of cancer involves action that a person can take to lower their risk of getting cancer. There are ways that women can protect themselves from cervical cancer. Feed on apples, lemons, oranges, cabbage, spinach and other green leafy vegetables. According to the American Cancer Society, eating at least 5 servings of fruits and vegetables a day, significantly reduces the risk of cancer. It decreases and even stops the process that transforms normal cells into cancer cells.
Other prevention tips
Another practical step to take for cervical cancer prevention is to use a condom during sexual intercourse. HPV is not limited to women. Men can also be infected with this virus. The majority of HPV is passed from one partner to the other by sexual contact. It is wise to protect oneself by using a condom. Another couple steps for preventing cervical cancer is to delay sexual intercourse and to be discerning in the number of sexual partners.
The risk of cervical cancer can be reduced through different preventive steps. Being aware of Pap tests and HPV tests and having them regularly performed will help women in their prevention of cervical cancer.
